Hear From our High-Flyers: 3 Spectacular Reasons to Freelance this Summer

Hear From our High-Flyers: 3 Spectacular Reasons to Freelance this Summer

The month of June put academic studies to bed and tucked exams away until the next semester. Summer of travel approaches, and with Minite, you can freelance while you fly! There’s a new dish on the sunny menu: maximize your summer with the freedom of relaxation and the flexibility of student freelancing. Take a bite out of this productive summer, and realize your potential!

In the meantime, let us take a look back on the student freelancing experience so far. When it comes to Sylvia, Lucius, and Omar, good things seem to come in threes. These High-Flyers all work together at a financial services firm as growth hackers, finding new and innovative ways to engage potential leads via social media like LinkedIn. Are they magicians or growth hackers, or perhaps both? Let’s find out what’s so sorcerous about freelancing anyways.

“Here at Minite, companies are hiring personalities, not CVs, so show your true colors during your interview, and don’t be scared… the worst thing that can happen is that you don’t get the job!”

1. Flexibility and freedom

The flexibility and freedom of freelancing allow you to still enjoy your summer while gaining valuable work experience to boost your CV after that much-needed break. Lucius: “I decide my own working hours, and the experience is extremely relevant, all while being nice and flexible.”Sylvia: “Other than the weekly calls we have, I work at my own pace and whenever I want. This gives me freedom which is extremely important for me as a full-time student and future marketing director for a student association next year.”

2. Learn more, learn faster

Student freelancing promotes time management and requires a growth mindset-- the outcome is ever-powerful. Sylvia: “I love the client's attitude, he's fresh and creative, not a typical grumpy boss. I'm still in my second week of work, but I'm already learning some things such as how to present myself better in meetings, how to actively listen, and how to be more productive in a limited time. I'm yet to learn many new things thanks to the cool environment I'm lucky to work in.”Omar: “This job has given me a different and new perspective. It has taught me about LinkedIn analytics as well as the algorithms of different social media, which I did not know about before this task.”

3. Build boldness

Once you step out of your comfort zone, outstanding opportunities will come your way. Omar: “Learn something new, take the risk! Here at Minite, companies are hiring personalities, not CVs, so show your true colors during your interview, and don’t be scared… the worst thing that can happen is that you don’t get the job!”Lucius: “Don’t be shy to show off your skills. Look at me-- right now I’m writing content for my team on Linkedin. I’m thinking outside the box, and coming up with original content!” Sylvia: “Don't be afraid to try and apply for a job if you don't think you're qualified enough. If you're a fast learner that's passionate about the cause, give it a shot because you have nothing to lose. Most importantly, grab the opportunity for a job while still in university. It's  an incredible chance to expand your skills, gain some experience and meet amazing people while having fun and studying full-time.”

So, don't wait this summer and sign up, so you can don our Minite yellow and start building on your work experience today!
