What started in 2018 as a project for a hotel group, grew to become a startup of its own by 2020 and that startup is none other than Please ask m! A software company for the hospitality industry, they have built an AI tool that helps hotels by automating their booking process. Live with new customers on the market and in their scaleup phase, their focus is on the onboarding of new clients and making the AI (artificial intelligence) even smarter. With their AI being taught in Dutch and English, Terry and Christel, the two co-founders, have big plans. “We would like the AI to learn other languages as well so we can really storm the EU market.”
“What we love about Minite and our students is that they are trustworthy, enthusiastic and really hold on to their responsibilities without us coaching them all the time. They are perfectionists when it comes to data, adequately checking and preparing data for our AI software to learn.”
While searching for suitable people to train their AI Terry and Christel were finding it difficult to locate consistent people and perfectionists, “because if you teach an AI something that is wrong t will continue learning it wrong.” They needed suitable teachers for such a fragile piece of software and ten ca across Minite through a LidIn post. With annotating (the process of training the AI), Terry and Christel knew that the process needed to be spaced out throughout the week. “That's why students are very important for this process as they are the most flexible people.”We embody the belief of promoting the new generation of students into the foray of work and Please ask m to think the same way. “What we really like about Minite and the students we are working with now is that even though they are very young, they are so trustworthy, and enthusiastic and can really hold on to their responsibilities without us coaching them all the time.”
Terry and Christel appreciate the initiative that the power duo Sami and Lars bring to the table. Especially, their innate curiosity and adding their own feedback to the company and product. “Thinking about our product as being part of our team. I think that’s very hard to find in someone who is working externally or from a different company to really feel like what they have to say will help and add on to the company.” The High-Flyer duo possesses a great understanding of why they are doing their job and also how it adds value to achieving the company’s goals.
“With artificial intelligence in general, you can have the best model of the world but if you feed it poor data you will get a garbage outcome.” That's why it’s so important that the people who are checking and preparing the data for the AI to learn, do a good job, otherwise, it will affect the performance of the AI. “The team that is working on it now from Minite, they are perfectionists when it comes to data. They understand when they do a good job, the outcome will show.”
